Chosen in person
Chrystelle and Nick select every piece themselves on buying trips to France, with no supplier in between.
Delivered from Auckland
BARAN de BORDEAUX sells authentic French antiques from a showroom in Auckland and delivers across New Zealand, including Christchurch. There is no Christchurch shop. What Christchurch buyers get is the same collection Auckland visitors see, selected in France by Chrystelle Baran and Nick Ferneyhough, and freighted to your address once you have chosen a piece.

The collection changes as new containers arrive, and every piece is one of a kind. When it sells, it is gone. Current categories include:
Pieces range from the 17th to the 20th century. Each product page lists the period, dimensions where we have them, and a description of condition and character.
A considered purchase, from a distance
Most of our enquiries about a piece begin with a photograph, so the process is built for buying at a distance.
Personally selected in France by Chrystelle Baran and Nick Ferneyhough.
South Island delivery
Christchurch is a South Island delivery, so your piece travels by inter-island freight. Cost and timing depend on the size, weight and nature of the item, which is why we quote each piece individually instead of publishing a flat rate. Transit times vary, and we confirm timing with your quote.
Before you order, measure the route the piece will take into your home: the front door, hallway turns, stairs and the final room. A tall armoire and a small side table pose very different problems. If a product page has no dimensions, or you need the weight (product pages do not list it), ask us.

Our point of view
Chrystelle and Nick select every piece themselves on buying trips to France, with no supplier in between.
Chrystelle, who was born and raised in Bordeaux, founded the business that year. Their first container sold out within weeks.
We are a member of the New Zealand Antique Dealers' Association (NZADA), and we describe each piece for exactly what it is.
The business was profiled in the NZ Herald in July 2015.
If you are not sure what to look for, our buying guide and terminology guide explain provenance, condition and the terms used in descriptions.
