Delivered from Auckland
If you are searching for French antiques in Wellington, one clarification first. Our showroom is in Mount Wellington, which is a suburb of Auckland, not the capital. BARAN de BORDEAUX has no shop in Wellington city. We deliver our French antiques there from Auckland, and Wellington buyers shop the same collection as everyone else.

BARAN de BORDEAUX is a New Zealand dealer that imports French antiques in containers. Chrystelle Baran and Nick Ferneyhough choose every piece in person on buying trips to France. The collection includes:
Every piece is unique, and sold pieces stay on the site marked as sold, so you can see what has passed through.
A few practical details, before delivery
Wellington homes raise two practical questions that we would rather you ask before purchase than after delivery.
Many Wellington properties sit on hillsides, with steps from the road, steep driveways or narrow stairwells. Tell us about the access at your address when you request a quote, because it affects how a piece is delivered and whether the carrier needs extra help. Measure the route into the house against the dimensions on the product page.
Wellington is a high seismic risk city. Armoires, cabinets and tall mirrors should be fixed to the wall, and any antique that stands tall should be placed with that in mind. A qualified installer can advise on fixings that suit antique timber without damaging it.
A well-placed mirror can bring depth and reflected light to a compact room.

A history of buying in France
Chrystelle was born and raised in Bordeaux and started the business in 2000. She and Nick source in person, and the business is an NZADA member selling each piece as exactly what it is. Our About page covers the story and press features, including the NZ Herald in July 2015.
We are also New Zealand's sole representative of de Gournay, the maker of hand-painted wallpapers, which suits Wellington buyers who want a room built around one decisive wall.
