French Antique Butcher’s Block

A magnificent antique French butcher’s block of good, useful proportions and in excellent condition. A highly decorative example in carved beech with scalloped apron under a deep knife drawer, sturdy iron corner brackets and brass hardware including maker’s plaque from Lyon. A rare example in that the original top, though well worn, remains perfectly flat. More often than not, these antique butcher’s blocks are too worn in the middle to be of much practical use. Also the height is a perfect kitchen working height of 880mm. This piece would be sensational incorporated into a kitchen, or simply as an island or unique console table. Fantastic original patina.
